(STATE INFORMATION CENTRE FOR DISABLED)
STATE INFORMATION CENTRE FOR DISABLED(SICD) is functioning w.e.f 2003 onwards.
The objectives of the SRC
1. To guide and implement rehabilitation services in the state.
2. To promote Rehabilitation services, comprising Medical, Educational, Psychological, Socio-economic vocational training and employment of persons with disabilities.
3. To enrich human resource development for Rehabilitation Services.
4. To create awareness to promote barrier free environment for disabled in private and public places.
5. To establish linkage with medical, education, vocational and employment facilities
6. To conduct Research & Development in the areas of disabilities
7. Promotion of Consultancy services to voluntary organizations
8. Networking with voluntary organizations
9. Diagnosis and Evaluation
10. Provision of aids and appliances
11. Conducting special camps in rural areas
Future Plans
1. To create database information on NGO’s and publish the directory.
2. To develop low cost – no cost teaching aids & appliances and assistive devices
3. Training of village rehabilitation workers
4. Training of multi rehabilitation therapists
5. Training of developmental therapists
6. Promotion of Self Help Groups
7. Formation of respite care models
8. Organizing community groups
9. Emphasis on Social Rehabilitation, Vocational training and Employment of disabled
10. To organize Capacity Building Programmes to the staff of NGOs
11. To conduct State Level Seminars & Workshops for voluntary organizations
12. To Identify areas for Research & Development
13. To establish research in collaboration with service organizations / institutions / universities
14. Publication of news letters
