| What is “Prakruthi” ? |
| Prakruthi stands for natural care or eco- friendly environment. We all know that eco- friendly environment enhances mental peace and stability, by keeping this in mind, Sweekaar started its unit in Upakaarpuram Village in 32 acres of land. A Residential school was built spending Rs.25 lakh for Hostel Building . Unlike other hostels, our beneficiaries move around in pollution free environment. |
| What is Integrated Rural Rehabilitation Center ? |
The main objective of this centre is to rehabilitate the persons with disabilities in their own communities, using their own resources upto maximum extent possible.
This centre was established in 1987 at Achaipally village of Mulugu , Mandal, Medak district of Andhra Pradesh by acquiring 32 acres of land.The centre provides two types of services:
A. Center based at IIRC, Achaipally--- 75 beneficiaries.
B. Outreach programme
Home based services ---- 150 beneficiaries. |
| What is Outreach programme ? |
| The main purpose of this programme is to create awareness in the community, through puppet show, community counseling, sensitization programme, the efforts are made to change the behavioral attitudes towards persons with disability so that disabled persons can be integrated back in the community. |
| What is center based services ? |
| The center provides training in developing concentration and motivation through yoga and meditation therapies to the inmates. In addition to this there is facility for medical treatment, physiotherapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, behavior modification, special education, yoga therapy, counseling, guidance and vocational training. |
| How many Sensitization / Awareness programmes have you conducted ? |
| 73 Programmes were conducted for Sarpanchs, head masters, the youth, SHG women, pregnant women and medical staff in the year 2005. |
| What is the procedure to get admission in residential school at Achaipally ? |
| A detailed assessment has to be done in Sweekaar Rehabilitation Institute for the Handicapped. Based on the diagnosis Management decides for admission in IRRC. |
| What are the Vocational Training taken up in Prakruti ? |
There are different trades like:
Agriculture , Animal , Domestic , Horticulture , Tailoring
, Agribased industrial , Brick Making , Domestic Animal , Pottery , Vermi-compost |

| Fee structure is very flexible and depends on the socio economic level (SEL) of the beneficiaries. |

| What are preventive aspects of MR ? |
Periodic Medical check up for the pregnant women.
Pregnant women should avoid taking drugs when medically not prescribed.
If pregnant women prefer an abortion she should get it done by a qualified Doctor.
Pregnant women should not be exposed to radiations.
A pregnant women should be immunized against diseases.
If the pregnant woman has high blood pressure or repeated fits she must be under continuous care of a qualified Doctor. |
| What care should be taken by the parent of MR child ? |
| Identifying the problem in earlier stage and taking appropriate measures and services from correct persons. |
| What is the Vocational Training Centre for MR ? |
| After 18 yrs of age of the child, they will be placed in Vocational Training Centre. There the children will be trained in different areas like candle making, phenol making, tailoring, soap oil making, soft toys making, screen printing etc. |

| They can have second child with precautionary and preventive measures. |
| What are the Motor problems seen in CP child ? |
If the hands are not functioning properly the child will have Fine Motor Problems.
If the legs are not functioning properly the child will have Gross Motor Problems. |
| Can CP children go for higher studies ? |
| Yes, it depends on their ability. |
