This institute was started in Jan’2003 with the aim to serve children with Pervasive Developmental Disorders.
One of the most common Pervasive Developmental Disorder is Autism, which is characterized by impairment in functional abilities, socialization, communication and behavioral problems. Another common behavioral problem is Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder.
432 Autistic cases and 242 ADHD cases were identified and treated during the current year. Treatment includes Behaviour Modification, Sensory Integration Therapy, Speech Therapy, Special Education and Group Therapy.

VIGNAAN BUILDING:
Vignaan Building at NCL Qutbullapur Mandal is specially constructed for imparting training programmes to students of Sweekaar in the areas of Clinical Psychology, Rehabilitation Psychology and Special Education. This Building is inaugurated by Sri Dharmana Prasada Rao, Hon’ble Minister for Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation, Government of Andhra Pradesh on 21.12.2005.
Sweekaar is the First Institute to start M.Phil in Clinical Psychology, and second to start M.Phil in Rehabilitation Psychology in Andhra Pradesh. Sweekaar has the credit of starting M.Phil in Clinical and Rehabilitation Psychology to develop man-power in these professions which are in great need in India and abroad. Apart from this courses, B.Ed Special Education in Mental Retardation and Hearing Impaired are also run. All these courses are affiliated to Osmania University and approved by the State Government and Rehabilitation Council of India.
These professional courses are highly specialized and will help to tackle the alarmingly increasing emotional problems, stress of life ,mental disturbances and imparting education to MR and HI in all age groups.
